ABOUT THE CENTRE
Boat Basin offers a unique setting for temperate rainforest studies at the newly constructed Temperate Rainforest Field Study Centre. Located at the northern reaches of Clayoquot Sound on Vancouver Island's West Coast, we are 55 kilometres (33 miles) north of Tofino, and 35 kilometres (22 miles) south/southwest of Gold River.

Solitude and silence prevail here. The Temperate Rainforest Field Study Centre is many miles from a connected road system, and can be reached only by air or water. Far from the distractions of modern living, the Centre offers unequalled access to this part of the coast.

The
facilities consist of six cabins and a magnificent Central Hall for dining and meeting. All buildings are made from local cedar, milled on the property.

Our goal is to help students, teachers and interested groups with a place to stay while learning about the natural marvels of this region.

We welcome university field study groups, and occasionally allow special interest groups to arrange reunions, study sessions, meetings or retreats.
